GLEN JEAN, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The federal government shutdown is being felt at New River Gorge National Park & Preserve, where services have been scaled back.
Park visitor centers are closed until further notice, and ranger-led programs are suspended as staff are furloughed.

Routine upkeep, including trash collection and restroom maintenance, is also on hold.
Despite the closures, all trails and recreational areas remain open to the public.
Visitors are encouraged to plan accordingly, as amenities and staff assistance will be limited for the duration of the shutdown.
A source tells LOOTPRESS that the effects to Bridge Day are currently unknown if the shutdown stretches through mid-October.
The event relies on the National Park Service for coordination each year.
