SNOWSHOE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Snowshoe Mountain kicked off their 50th Anniversary season this morning in Pocahontas County. Thanks to the recent stretch of cold, natural snow, and a tremendous effort from the resort’s snowmaking team, skiers and snowboarders were treated to incredible early season conditions on the mountain.
“This is the strongest opening we’ve had in nearly a decade.” said Snowshoe spokesperson Shawn Cassell. “We’ve received over a foot of natural snow since Thanksgiving and more importantly our snowmakers have had an extended snowmaking run that has allowed us to build a tremendously deep base of snow on our open trails. Even more trails will be open by this weekend.”
Snowshoe’s Coca-Cola Tubing Park will be opening two weeks early, with sessions available from 11AM-9PM this Saturday and Sunday.
50TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION – DEC. 19-22
First opened on December 19, 1974, Snowshoe is planning to party like it’s 1974 in celebration of 50 years of skiing on the mountain. Head to the resort December 19-22 for a variety of throwback fun including après parties, an all gold rail jam, a soul train dance party, live music, fireworks, comedy shows, and much more. KIDS SKI FREE WEEK & WV SKI FREE DAY
From Dec. 7-13, kids ages 12 & under can ski for FREE at Snowshoe Mountain as well as other Alterra Mountain Company destinations. Sunday, Dec. 8 is also West Virginia Ski Free Day. Stop by the Depot with proof of WV residency for a free lift ticket for the day.
