Coal City – Independence notched just six hits but used them to capitalize on 14 walks, beating Nicholas County 19-4 in three innings Thursday evening in Coal City.
Sarah Bragg led the charge for the Patriots, going 2 for 2 at the plate with a double and three RBIs.
Delaney Buckland was efficient in one inning of work for Indy, striking out three batters on just 12 pitches.
Emma Kiss led Nicholas County with with a white that plated two runs.
Indy improves to 5-1 and will host PikeView on Friday.

Glen Daniel – Olivia Barnett went 3 for 3 at the plate, driving in a run and picking up the win in the circle as Shady Spring defeated county rival Liberty 12-4 on the road Thursday night.
Emma Cyrus finished 2 of 4 for the Tigers but drove in three of their 12 runs.
Shady improve to 2-1 and will host Nicholas County on Friday.
