South Charleston – Jess Terry pitched a complete-game shutout, locking down St. Albans and guiding Cabell Midland to its first softball title since 2005 Wednesday at Little creek Park in South Charleston.
Terry helped her own cause at the plate, hitting a single to score Simone Blanks.
That was the start of an eventful third inning that saw Cabell Midland score all three of its runs, the other two coming courtesy of Olivia Pelfrey and Jenna Dorsey.
St. Albans earned the rematch after beating Washington 5-0 earlier in the day, but its bats went cold in the championship match.
Cabell Midland’s Jess Terry, Olivia Pelfrey and Jenna Dorsey, St. Albans’ Taylor Glancy, Tayven Stephenson, Kendall Stoffel and Jillian Holley, Washington’s Maddy Rufner and the John Marshall duo of Kadence Pettit and Tessa Wise were all named to the Class AAA All-Tournament team.
