Sophia announces 2025 Spring Cleanup schedule

SOPHIA, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Town of Sophia has released its 2025 Spring Cleanup schedule, with the Public Works Department set to collect items from April 28 to May 2.

Residents are reminded to place items within five feet of the curb by 7:00 a.m. on their scheduled collection day.

Cleanup Schedule

  • Monday, April 28: First St., Akers St., Bez St., Blue Hawk Lane, Church St., Front St., High St., Phillips St., Polk St., School Ave., Scout St., Valley Rd., West Main St. (to Basham), and Virginia St.
  • Tuesday, April 29: Third St., Basham St., Camilla St. (East and West), Henry St., Hunt Ct., Mike St., Nelson St., Poe St., Thorn St., West St., White Oak St., West Main St. (to Poe), and Wickline Ave.
  • Wednesday, April 30: Daniel Dr., Deem St., Dunn St., Holt Ct., Jessup Hollow, Kingwood Ct., Maple St., Riffe St., Robert C. Byrd Dr., Tom Lynn Subdivision, East Main St. (to Rt. 16), and Springwood Dr.
  • Thursday, May 1: Asbury Dr., Knob St., Lovell St., Maple Ave., Oak Ave., Park St., Railroad Ave. (East and West), Ruble St., Walker St., Pine Ridge, McAlpin Rd., Porter St., Spring St., Summit Dr., and White Pine.

Residents should not set out items more than five days before their scheduled pickup. Collections begin at 8:00 a.m. each day, and no return visits will be made to completed areas.

The town will accept washers, dryers, refrigerators, freezers, and stoves. However, appliances must be emptied before pickup.

Items not accepted include:

  • Auto or truck tires
  • Hazardous, toxic, or infectious waste
  • Petroleum products (oil, gasoline, etc.)
  • Yard waste (tree limbs, leaves, logs, brush)
  • Demolition materials (construction debris)
  • Lead acid batteries
  • Liquids (paint, paint cans, thinners, pesticides, insecticides)
  • TVs and computer monitors
