TEAYS VALLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A 22-year-old man from southern West Virginia is heading to the next round of American Idol after earning praise from the show’s judges during Monday night’s episode.
Mor Ilderton, of Teays Valley in Putnam County, performed an original song titled “Strong” for his audition.
The song reflects on the loss of his mother, who died when he was just 2 years old after his mother was killed by his father.
Ilderton was raised by his grandmother, Sandy, who he said was unable to attend the audition. However, she surprised him by appearing at the end of his performance, creating an emotional moment on stage.
Following his audition, Ilderton received “yes” votes from all three judges, advancing him to the Hollywood rounds, which will be held in Nashville.
