PARKERSBURG, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A heated encounter turned violent late Tuesday night when a man was reportedly stabbed during a confrontation with his girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend in Parkersburg.
At approximately 10:49 p.m., officers were dispatched to 601 29th Street, Apartment A, after receiving a report of a possible stabbing. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the victim, who said he had been stabbed in the thumb during an altercation.
The victim told authorities he was walking eastbound in the 600 block of 29th Street near Birch Street when the suspect, his girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend, Matthew Scott Taylor, rode past him on a bicycle heading westbound. The suspect allegedly began yelling at the victim and his girlfriend before jumping off his bike and attempting to stab the victim in the stomach.
The victim managed to avoid the blow, but the knife sliced his thumb during the scuffle. In self-defense, he reportedly pepper-sprayed the suspect before returning to his residence to call 911.
