OAK HILL, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Rapidly expanding Oak Hill start-up, the Starlite Drive-In, hosted its official Grand Opening ceremony at the Lochgelly Road location on Saturday.
Co-owners Chuck Miller, Tom Miller, and Chuck Gray pulled out all the stops over the weekend for the Starlite Drive-In’s official inauguration as part of the local business community – Which included acknowledgement from the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce who were present for a ribbon-cutting ceremony Saturday morning.
Having started simply as a drive-in venue, the Starlite additions have been coming fast and at high frequency, with the Little Dipper food truck, swing sets, and corn hole areas being only the most recent amenities to make their way to the business.
The Starlite crew have no intentions of slowing down, however. Co-owner Chuck Miller indicates that not only is there indeed more to come, but that the venue is setting its sights on an expansion so substantial that it could even warrant a name change.
“We’re going to keep adding to it,” Miller explains on this picturesque, if fairly humid, Saturday afternoon. “Hopefully it’ll become Starlite Event Center and Drive-In Plus.”
It certainly isn’t an impractical ambition, particularly given the reception of each addition as it has been made thus far, and of the drive-in itself. In fact, “event center” may not be too much of a stretch in describing the Starlite venue in its current state.
The abundance of sprawling land is a sight to behold prior to the arrival of the caravan of eager movie-goers whose vehicles will occupy the space later in the evening. But during this time, on this day, patrons are navigating the outskirts of the field, which play host to an impressive concessions facility, the aforementioned Little Dipper Food Truck, swing sets, and corn hole area, as well as at least a dozen vendors.
Also attracting much attention was an array of classic, vintage vehicles which had been brought out for the car show which was also being held at the Starlite venue for the occasion. And soon enough, a towering, vibrantly colored, Superman-themed bounce house would be erected on the property for the enjoyment of younger guests.
“We’re thankful for everything that’s going on,” says Miller. “We appreciate everybody showing up and making it what it is.
The Starlite Drive-In is open Thursday through Saturday each week and screens two movies each night beginning at dusk. Visit the Starlite Drive-In website to learn more. Additional LOOTPRESS coverage of the Starlite Drive-In can be found here.
