FAYETTE COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A high-speed pursuit on Interstate 77 led to the arrest of an Ohio woman on Friday, May 16, 2025, after authorities discovered she was driving a stolen vehicle and had no valid driver’s license.
At approximately 3:16 p.m., a law enforcement officer traveling southbound on I-77 clocked a white Hyundai Palisade traveling at 85 mph in a 60 mph zone. The officer paced the vehicle for about 1.5 miles before activating lights and sirens to initiate a traffic stop.
However, the driver—later identified as Maria Salgado—continued for nearly 3 miles before finally pulling over.
A check of the vehicle’s Ohio registration (JXT6536) revealed that it had been reported stolen and was listed in the NCIC database. Further investigation determined that Salgado’s driver’s license had been canceled in the state of Ohio.
During a search of the vehicle, officers also discovered a small amount of marijuana in the passenger seat.
Salgado now faces multiple charges, including possession of a stolen vehicle, driving without a valid license, speeding, and drug possession.Â
