SUMMERS COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Summers County man is facing sexual abuse charges.
According to State Police, on Tuesday, February 2, 2021, officers received a Child Protective Services Referral alleging a fourteen-year-old girl had been sexually assaulted. During the investigation, the child disclosed that Danny Carter had sexual intercourse with her. Mr. Carter had known the victim since she was little because he was previously married to her cousin and knew hold she was. The child said the incident happened one time.
On Wednesday, February 10, 2021, officers met with Carter, and he agreed to be interviewed. Carter said he confessed to drinking alcohol with the minor and sent nude photographs of himself to the victim.
The suspect says the incident happened when he spent the night, and the two were lying in bed.
Carter is charged with third-degree sexual abuse, displaying obscene matter to a minor, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He is currently in Southern Regional Jail under a 26,000 dollar bond.
