SUMMERS COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Summers County Sheriff’s Department (SCSD) is warning of rabies-infected raccoons within the county.
The SCSD says they have dispatched two raccoons in the last two days for showing rabies symptoms.
They urge residents to not approach any raccoons, especially if they are displaying odd behavior.
Rabid raccoons could show signs of aggression but may also be lethargic or walk around aimlessly or appear “drunk”.
The SCSD says that if you are bitten, seek medical attention ASAP and do not wait to get treatment.
