SUMMERS COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) — The Summers County Commission has taken a major step toward improving emergency response by unveiling a new mobile command vehicle for the Summers County 911 Center.
County officials say the vehicle is designed to serve as a fully functional alternative 911 center during emergencies or large-scale incidents. Equipped with Starlink internet service, the mobile unit can provide up to 300 internet connections, allowing first responders to stay connected even in remote or hard-to-reach areas of the county.
The mobile command vehicle also carries tools and specialized equipment to support emergency operations in the field, giving dispatchers and responders added flexibility when traditional infrastructure is unavailable or overwhelmed.
County leaders said the investment reflects a commitment to public safety and accountability.
“Our citizens deserve the best service available when they pay their communication fees,” officials said, adding that the new unit positions Summers County at the forefront of emergency communications technology.
The mobile 911 command vehicle is expected to enhance coordination, response times, and reliability during critical situations across the county.
