SISSONVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Sissonville man is facing charges following a police standoff on Wednesday which prompted involvement from SWAT Team members.
The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office reports that, at around 10:40am on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a disturbance in the Tate Hollow Road area of Sissonville.
Responding officers were informed prior to arrival at the scene that the subject had been argumentative and had fired off multiple rounds from a gun at an unidentified victim.
A perimeter was established around the residence at the scene by Deputies, who attempted to have the suspect – later identified as 37-year-old Joshua Allen Patterson of Sissonville, WV – come out of the residence.
Patterson refused to comply with orders from law enforcement and SWAT Team members were deployed for the continuing of negotiations, which reportedly went on for three and a half hours as arrest warrants were being obtained.
Upon the signing of the arrest warrant by the Magistrate, SWAT members issued a final warning for the suspect to surrender. Patterson reluctantly complied and was taken into custody.
No individuals, the suspect included, sustained any serious injuries as a result of the incident, according to law enforcement.
Patterson was arraigned on one felony count of Wanton Endangerment in Kanawha County Magistrate Court with a cash-only bond having been set at $25,000.
