TAZEWELL, VA (LOOTPRESS) – The Tazewell County Grand Jury has returned a six-count felony indictment for Jason David Osborne, who faces multiple Child Abuse-related charges as well as charges of Strangulation and Discharging a Firearm or Missiles in or at an Occupied Building.
The Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office reports on Wednesday that the indictment has been issued in relation to incidents which occurred during the period between the dates of December 1, 2012, and December 16, 2019.
“This has been a ve3ry long and taxing investigation, our Detective and Patrol Divisions have worked tirelessly to ensure a good case was presented to the Grand Jury,” says Tazewell County Sheriff Hieatt.
“Commonwealth attorney, Chris Plaster remarked of the development, “Our Victim Witness program in conjunction with the Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office has put in a tremendous number of hours working with the victims of Mr. Osborne’s crimes,” he said. “There is still plenty of work to do but we are on the right track for getting these victims the justice they deserve.”
Jason David Osborne faces four counts of Child Cruelty/Neglect/Abuse, one count of Strangulation of Another, and one count of Discharge Firearm of Missiles In/At Occupied Building Unlawfully.
The Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office also recently announced a certified indictment on Ann Marie Burks, former Executive Director of the Teen Venture Program in the Richlands area.
Burks has been indicted on charges of two counts of Distribution of a Schedule I/II Narcotic, two counts of Forgery, one count of Conspiracy, one count of Receiving Money/Property by False Pretenses, and one count of misdemeanor Receiving Money/Property by False Pretenses.
“This has been a very important case for the Richlands Community,” said Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney, Jessica Gunter. “There is still work to be done and Mrs. Burks is innocent until proven guilty in court. We are very confident of these charges and will vigorously prosecute them.”
