The “Coal Heritage Trail” Elkhorn Inn was built in 1922 by the Empire Coal & Coke Company as their “Miner’s Clubhouse.” It now serves as an Inn for overnight guests. The Elkhorn Inn, located in the historic town of Landgraff in McDowell County, sits right beside the railroad tracks currently operated by Norfolk Southern which was formerly the Norfolk & Western Railway.
The Elkhorn Inn’s 14 air-conditioned & heated guest rooms feature antique, claw-foot bathtubs and showers, bathrobes, signature toiletries, down and down-alternative comforters and feather pillows, period 1930 furnishings, art, & antiques.
