CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A traffic stop in Charleston on Thursday morning led to a struggle with a suspect and left three police officers exposed to fentanyl, according to the Charleston Police Department.
The incident happened around 11:30 a.m. at the entrance of Orchard Manor on Griffin Drive when patrol officers initiated a stop and began a narcotics investigation.

Police say the driver, later identified as Memphis Ross, 24, of Charleston, became combative and resisted officers.
During the altercation, Ross allegedly threw a bag of suspected fentanyl, striking an officer in the chest, while another bag burst on the ground as officers attempted to restrain him.
After a brief struggle, Ross was taken into custody.
Three officers were exposed to fentanyl during the incident.
One officer was administered Narcan at the scene, and all three were transported to a local hospital for decontamination and treatment.
They are expected to be released soon.
Ross was also taken to a hospital for evaluation before being charged with possession with intent to deliver fentanyl.
Police say additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues in coordination with the Kanawha County Prosecutor’s Office.
