BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Tickets are now on sale for the 2026 summer season at Theatre West Virginia, organizers announced this week.
The season will open with the 65th anniversary of Honey in the Rock, recognized as America’s oldest Civil War drama.
First performed in 1961 and written by West Virginia native Kermit Hunter, the production tells the story of the state’s formation during the Civil War.
The show will run in repertory alongside Shrek the Musical, a Tony Award-winning production based on the popular animated film, featuring music, dance and puppetry on the Grandview stage.
Tickets can be purchased online at theatrewestvirginia.org or by calling 304-992-9085. Regular ticket prices range from $15 to $25.
Tickets for the opening weekend of Honey in the Rock, which coincides with West Virginia Day, are priced at $18.63. Group tickets for 10 or more are available for $15 each by phone.
“We’re excited to bring this 65th anniversary season to Southern West Virginia residents and tourists – it’s a perfect balance of the history Theatre West Virginia was founded to share, and the popular entertainment our local audiences love,” says Artistic Director KB Saine.
“We’re continuing to increase our production values and involvement with the community. This season is going to be a special one.”
All performances will be held at the Cliffside Amphitheatre at Grandview, located within the New River Gorge National Park and Preserve.
