FAYETTE COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Motorists traveling through the Lochgelly area of Fayette County should expect intermittent traffic delays Sunday, Oct. 25, as Appalachian Power crews work to upgrade electrical infrastructure.
The work is scheduled from 7 a.m. to noon near the intersection of Appalachian Drive and Mall Road, where existing electric lines cross U.S. Route 19 and State Route 16.
According to Appalachian Power, traffic control personnel will temporarily stop vehicles at intervals to allow crews and equipment to safely cross the roadways.
The work is part of an ongoing project to improve electrical reliability for customers served by the Lochgelly Circuit. Improvements include upgrading existing wires and poles and transitioning the circuit to the new Whitewater/Lochgelly Station.
Appalachian Power said it has coordinated with the West Virginia Department of Transportation to minimize traffic disruptions.
No customer power outages are planned during the work.
The project is weather-dependent. If conditions prevent crews from completing the work Sunday, it will be rescheduled for the following weekend.
