OAK HILL, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A routine traffic stop in Oak Hill resulted in two arrests Tuesday night after police say officers recovered suspected narcotics, pills, and digital scales from a vehicle during a roadside search.
According to the Oak Hill Police Department, Patrolman S.M. Wilshire initiated the stop around 8:00 p.m. after observing a maroon Kia Sorento following another vehicle too closely in the area of U.S. Route 19 and Mall Road. The vehicle, bearing a West Virginia registration tag reading “SNICKERS,” pulled over without incident.
Upon approaching the vehicle, the officer reported smelling freshly burned marijuana. The driver, identified as Linda Alexander-Green, and a rear-seat passenger, identified as Sharrell Bell, initially denied having any substances inside the vehicle. Bell later produced a tobacco wrap containing what appeared to be marijuana from his jacket, according to the report.
The officer advised Alexander-Green that, based on probable cause, a full vehicle search would be conducted. During the search, officers reported locating two separate baggies of suspected white powder, along with digital scales containing residue consistent with the substance.
The combined weight of the suspected narcotics was measured at approximately 17.56 grams on an unofficial scale, the report states. Based on the quantity and packaging, police say the items were consistent with distribution.
Both Alexander-Green and Bell were detained and transported to the Oak Hill Police Department for processing. While removing Alexander-Green from the patrol vehicle, the officer reported locating an additional plastic baggie containing two white pills marked “M366,” identified as Hydrocodone, which were not in a prescription bottle. Alexander-Green admitted the pills were in her possession, according to the report.
Both individuals were transported to Southern Regional Jail pending further court proceedings. All evidence was secured in the department’s evidence locker.
The incident occurred within the city limits of Oak Hill in Fayette County.
