PARKERSBURG, WV (LOOTPRESS) – One man has been arrested on multiple drug charges following a traffic stop.
According to the Wood County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred at the intersection of Marrtown Road and Dupont Road, where Deputy Turner observed a silver Mitsubishi Eclipse without a motor vehicle inspection sticker.
The driver, identified as Robert D. Pennell III, 32, of Racine, was pulled over for the violation.
During the stop, deputies requested assistance from the Parkersburg Police Department.
An officer and a K-9 unit arrived promptly at the scene.
The K-9 alerted officers to the presence of contraband in the vehicle, prompting a thorough search.
The search yielded two firearms, six loaded magazines, a large quantity of small plastic baggies, a digital scale, a baggie containing suspected fentanyl/heroin, a baggie with a substantial amount of suspected Xanax, a plastic container with marijuana, and several baggies with white residue.
Investigations revealed that Pennell is a prohibited person, legally barred from possessing firearms.
He was charged with multiple offenses, including Prohibited person in possession of a concealed firearm, Possession with intent to deliver a Schedule I or II controlled substance, and Possession with intent to deliver a Schedule IV controlled substance.
Pennell was granted a $75,000 bond, which he was unable to post.
He is currently being held at the Wood County Holding Center.
