(LOOTPRESS) – In a heartbreaking incident on Friday afternoon, members of The Nelons, one of America’s most popular Gospel music families, were killed in a fatal plane crash while en route to join the Gaither Homecoming Cruise to Alaska.
The crash resulted in the deaths of Jason and Kelly Nelon Clark, their daughter Amber and her husband Nathan Kistler, their assistant Melodi Hodges, and the pilot Larry Haynie along with his wife Melissa.
The National Transportation Safety Board is currently investigating the cause of the accident.
Jason and Kelly’s youngest daughter, Autumn Nelon Streetman, and her husband Jamie were not on the plane.
They safely arrived in Seattle and were informed of the tragic news.
They were brought to a hotel where fellow artists, along with Bill and Gloria Gaither, gathered to offer their prayers, support, and comfort during this difficult time.
Autumn and Jamie will be returning home to stay with Kelly’s brother, Todd Nelon, and his wife Rhonda, as they begin to cope with the immense loss.
The families involved, including the Kistler family, the Haynie family, and the family of Melodi Hodges, are in need of prayers and support.
Autumn Nelon Streetman issued a statement expressing her gratitude for the prayers and support they have already received.
“Thank you for the prayers that have been extended already to me, my husband, Jamie, and our soon-to-be-born baby boy, as well as Jason’s parents, Dan and Linda Clark,” Streetman said.
“We appreciate your continued prayers, love and support as we navigate the coming days.”
