BLUEFIELD, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Treyvon Simmons, a lifelong advocate for working families and underserved communities, has officially announced his candidacy as a Democrat for the West Virginia House of Delegates in District 37, representing Mercer County.
At just 28 years old, Simmons currently serves on the Bluefield City Council, where he made history as the youngest person ever elected to that body. His campaign builds on a record of public service rooted in listening to residents, addressing real needs, and standing up for communities that have too often been left behind.
“I’m running to help West Virginia and to fight for Mercer County and the forgotten people who have been overlooked for far too long,” Simmons said. “Everyone deserves truth, opportunity, and dignity—no matter their ZIP code.”
Simmons’ platform centers on expanding access to affordable childcare, strengthening public education, and ensuring quality, accessible healthcare for all West Virginians. He has emphasized that these issues are not abstract policy debates, but daily realities for families struggling to stay afloat.
“As a young leader, I understand both the challenges facing our generation and the deep-rooted issues that have held our communities back,” Simmons said. “This campaign is about honesty, hard work, and restoring trust in government by putting people first.”
Throughout his time on City Council, Simmons has focused on community engagement and lifting up voices that are often ignored in the political process. His candidacy signals a new generation of leadership—one grounded in service, accountability, and hope for West Virginia’s future.
