SUMMERS COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A Summers County man who lent his 4-wheeler for a quick store run says it never came back — and a week later, it turned up for sale online.
According to the West Virginia State Police, Troopers responded to a report of a possibly stolen 4-wheeler on Tuesday, June 24, after receiving a complaint from David Blake Love, a resident of Lowell Road in Pence Springs. Love reported that on June 21, he allowed Cody Michael Graham to borrow his 2008 Kawasaki KFX to travel to a nearby store, but Graham never returned the vehicle.
When Love reached out to Graham via text, Graham claimed the ATV had broken down in Alta, Greenbrier County, and said he was working on getting it back. However, Graham allegedly refused to disclose its exact location and eventually stopped responding altogether.
By July 1, with no word or returned vehicle, the 4-wheeler — valued between $3,000 and $4,000 — was entered into NCIC as stolen.
That same day, Love spotted a familiar-looking 4-wheeler listed for sale on Facebook Marketplace in Bluefield, Mercer County. State Police coordinated with Bluefield Police, who located the vehicle at the address tied to the listing. The VIN matched the reported stolen ATV, and the vehicle was recovered. It was subsequently removed from the NCIC database.
As a result, Troopers charged Cody Michael Graham with Grand Larceny.
