ELKHORN, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Southern West Virginia Chapter of Trout Unlimited has announced that it will be hosting its annual fall cleanup of Elkhorn Creek this weekend.
One of the most polluted waterways in the state of West Virginia, Elkhorn Creek is the subject of annual cleanup efforts by the chapter, who last year were able to gather a staggering four tons of trash and 96 tires last year alone.
Over the past several years the Southern West Virginia Chapter has cleaned up several thousands of pounds of trash and debris from the stream. These recurring cleanup efforts are just one part of a greater mission of the chapter to make a lasting and positive impact in local communities throughout the state, and to ensure that the southern region of West Virginia receives improved access to clean water sources.
This year’s cleanup effort will take place at 9:00am on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at the old Elkhorn Post Office located at 196 Station Road in Elkhorn, WV.
Those with questions regarding the cleanup effort are encouraged to reach out to Micah Bates with Trout Unlimited at mbates5640@gmail.com.
