CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – President Donald Trump has appointed two West Virginians to serve as U.S. Attorneys for the state’s federal judicial districts.
Former state delegate and gubernatorial candidate Moore Capito has been nominated to serve as U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of West Virginia. Capito is the son of U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito.
Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney Matt Harvey has been selected to serve as U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of West Virginia.
Senator Shelley Moore Capito released a statement Tuesday expressing her support for both appointments.
“Thrilled and extremely proud that President Donald J. Trump has chosen two stellar candidates to be West Virginia’s U.S. Attorneys, Matt Harvey in the Northern District and Moore Capito in the Southern District,” she said.
“I look forward to supporting their quick confirmations so they can get to work on behalf of West Virginia.”
The nominations are subject to confirmation by the U.S. Senate.
