GREENBRIER COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Despite the ongoing federal government shutdown, Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers at Greenbrier Valley Airport remain fully staffed and continue to operate without interruption, ensuring the safety and security of travelers.
Airport officials expressed gratitude for the continued dedication of TSA personnel, who are reporting to work each day and serving the community under challenging circumstances.
As the shutdown continues, community members have been asking how they can support local TSA officers and their families. In response, a TSA Support Collection has been organized to provide assistance during this time.
Donations are being accepted and will go directly toward helping officers manage day-to-day needs. Organizers say the most useful contributions include grocery or gas gift cards valued between $10 and $25, as well as non-perishable food items such as canned goods and sealed snacks. Pantry staples like pasta, rice, and sauce are also encouraged.
In addition, household essentials—including toilet paper, paper towels, tissues, cleaning supplies, and laundry detergent—are in high demand. Toiletries such as shampoo, soap, deodorant, and feminine hygiene products are also being collected, along with pet food and supplies for officers with animals at home.
All donations can be dropped off at the Greenbrier Valley Airport Fixed Base Operator (FBO). Those needing assistance bringing items inside can call 304-645-3961, extension 0.
Officials remind the public that TSA officers are not permitted to accept donations while working at security checkpoints or during screening operations.
Organizers say the community’s support is critical during this period and serves as a meaningful way to give back to the officers who help keep Greenbrier Valley Airport running safely every day.
