WEST VIRGINIA (LOOTPRESS) – On Monday, April 3, 2023, at approximately 2:00 pm, Cpl. M. C. McMillian II and Sgt. D. J. Miller received a call reporting Hobert Dial, 56, of Branchland, WV, and Brandon Rakes, 37, of Ranger, WV, had thrown an explosive device on the private property of another, causing a fire.
Evidence was gathered, and a search warrant was obtained and executed on Hobert Dial’s residence on April 4, 2023. WV State Police Explosive Response Team assisted in the search warrant and located two improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and bulk explosives inside the residence.
Hobert Dial was arrested and charged with two counts of Illegal Possession of Destructive Devices and Destructive Materials.
Hobert Dial was transported to the Western Regional Jail in Barboursville, WV, to await arraignment.
Warrants are pending for Brandon Rakes.
This investigation remains active and ongoing.
