CAMPBELL’S CREEK, WV (LOOTPRESS) – On Wednesday, February 15, 2023, around 5:30 AM, Deputy J.D. Thaxton and Deputy M.A. Dingess were dispatched to a stolen vehicle complaint at Joey’s Car Wash on Campbell’s Creek Drive in Charleston.
The victim reported to deputies that she had borrowed the vehicle from her cousin, and she was with Matthew Koon when they stopped at the car wash.
Matthew H. Koon, 22 years old from Charleston, took the vehicle and left the victim at the car wash. Deputies contacted the registered owner of the vehicle and learned that Mr. Koon had contacted her via Facebook, advising that he had her vehicle, and it was parked at a bar in the Davis Creek area.
Deputies worked with the vehicle owner and OnStar services to locate the vehicle outside of One More Bar in Davis Creek. The bar owner assisted deputies by providing video surveillance images of the male and female suspects who arrived in and left the vehicle.
