SUMMERSVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A catalytic converter theft that occurred in the Summersville area of Nicholas County has resulted in the arrest of two individuals.
According to a criminal complaint, on Saturday, February 25, Jonathan Collins along with Anthony Terry, cut off a catalytic converter of an Enterprise box truck.
Police were told that the suspects were driving a purple Mitsubishi Eclipse and officers then began patrolling for the said vehicle type. Officers then went to the Birch River area and went to Coffman’s Metal to question if there was anyone in the described vehicle.
The employees at Coffman’s Metal did not have any information matching the description, although they stated they would alert these officers if one came about.
Shortly after, an employee from Coffman’s Metal did alert these officers that a vehicle with a matching description as described did come by and attempted to sell a catalytic converter and that the vehicle was now located at the Go Mart in Birch River getting gas.
Officers identified the two males in the vehicle as Anthony Terry and Johnathan Collins.
Johnathan Collins did admit to officers that he did take the catalytic converter and that it was located in the trunk of the vehicle. The estimated cost of the catalytic converter was approximately $1,500.
Collins was charged with destruction of property, grand larceny, and conspiracy. He is currently out on bond.
Terry was charged with receiving and transferring stolen property and destruction of property. Terry is also out on bond.
