FAIRLEA, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A routine call for service led to two drug-related arrests at Motel M in Fairlea on September 4, according to the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies with the Sheriff’s Office Street Crimes Unit arrived at the motel and observed a woman, later identified as 64-year-old Patty McCoy, leaning into the window of a parked vehicle in the rear lot.

Deputy H. Rodriguez approached the driver while Lieutenant Hudnall spoke with McCoy as she began to walk away.
During the encounter, Hudnall noticed McCoy trying to conceal items in her hand. A search revealed a small tin container holding four Suboxone tablets, one Subutex strip, and five baggies of methamphetamine.
The vehicle’s driver told deputies that McCoy had just handed something to a man behind the motel.
Deputy Staley later found the man, identified as David Morgan, walking along Route 219.
He was detained, and deputies discovered roughly half an ounce of methamphetamine on him. The packaging matched that found with McCoy. Morgan admitted he had recently purchased the drugs from her.
McCoy was transported to the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office and charged with multiple counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance.
She was released the same day after posting bond through Greenbrier County Magistrate Court.
Officials noted this was her fifth felony arrest related to drug offenses. The Prosecuting Attorney’s Office plans to file a motion to revoke her bond.
In a statement, Greenbrier County Sheriff Bart Baker said, “In addressing the persistent drug issues affecting our communities, I have authorized a specialized team of deputies to proactively focus on areas known for drug activity throughout Greenbrier County.”
“In close coordination with the Greenbrier County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, we remain committed to identifying, arresting, and prosecuting individuals who traffic in illegal narcotics and endanger the safety and well-being of our citizens.”
