HUNTINGTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Two men were sentenced to federal prison this week for separate fentanyl distribution crimes in Huntington.
Devontay Brian Johnson, 29, of Detroit, Michigan, received a sentence of four years and nine months, followed by three years of supervised release.
Court records show that on August 3, 2022, Johnson sold about 20 grams of fentanyl to a confidential informant while parked on Wilson Place.
During the deal, he was seen holding what appeared to be a semiautomatic rifle.
Beecher Lee Shuler, 43, of Huntington, was sentenced to six years in prison, also followed by three years of supervised release.
On June 21, 2023, Shuler sold roughly 3.5 grams of fentanyl for $275 to a confidential informant at his residence.
A subsequent search of his home on July 1 uncovered cocaine, oxycodone, approximately 813 grams of pills containing protonitazene—a potent synthetic opioid—six firearms, and more than $1,100 in cash.
United States District Judge Robert C. Chambers handed down both sentences. Acting U.S.
Attorney Lisa G. Johnston announced the outcomes and praised the investigative work of the FBI. The Cabell County Sheriff’s Office also assisted in Shuler’s case.
