BRANCHLAND, WV (LOOTPRESS) Two parents are facing charges after children were found living in deplorable conditions.
On Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at approximately 7:00 am, Cpl. J. K. Ramey, Cpl. M. C. McMillian II, and Tpr. J. D. Reedy responded to a child abuse complaint in Branchland, WV.
Upon arrival, the troopers discovered four juveniles, ranging in age from two to six years old, living in squalor, without sufficient food or hygiene. The troopers contacted Lincoln County Child Protective Services who removed the children from the residence.
The parents, identified as Dustin Workman, age 30, and Mattesha Lawrence, age 26, were arrested for Child Neglect Creating Risk of Injury. Child Protective Services transported two of the juveniles to the hospital for medical treatment.
This investigation is ongoing.
