FAYETTE COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Two people are charged after trying to hide and keep their children concealed from law enforcement.
A complaint obtained by Lootpress that The Fayette County Sheriff’s Department filed states that on August 2, 2021, Nicholas toney and Tanya Harrah were concealing their children from receiving medical treatment.
On August 1, 2021, CPS requested assistance locating two children at a home in Oak Hill. When CPS arrived at the house, they told Nicholas Toney that they needed to meet with him, the mother, Tanya Harrah, and the children. Toney told the CPS worker that she had no right to be there and needed to get off the property.
The CPS workers drove back to the office and requested assistance from law enforcement. When CPS and law enforcement returned to the home, Nicholas toney and Tanya Harrah had taken the children and fled. A nearby witness told authorities that they saw them down the road walking towards Route 61 earlier in the day.
For several days attempts to locate them were unsuccessful. Several leads and phone pings were made, but no luck. When one deputy contacted the parents, they both refused to bring their children in so they could receive medical treatment.
On August 12, 2021, a petition was filed in the circuit court of Fayette County requesting an order to take the children, and it was granted due to the imminent danger of the physical well-being of the children. On several occasions, detectives spoke with the parents and advised them of an order entered by the court to transfer custody of the children. However, the parents still refused and continued to hide and keep their children concealed from law enforcement.
They were later found and charged. Both Toney and Harrah are charged with two counts of child concealment. They are being held in Southern Regional Jail.
