VIRGINIA BEACH, VA (LOOTPRESS) – Two Virginia Beach Police Department officers were fatally shot in the line of duty late Friday night, February 21, the department confirmed Saturday.
Authorities have not released further details, citing an active investigation, but assured the public that there is no ongoing threat to the community.
“We are devastated to confirm the deaths of two of our officers,” the department stated. “We ask for patience and understanding as we work to put the pieces of this tragic event together, make notifications, and grieve the loss of two of our own.”
Officials have not yet released the names of the fallen officers.
