WASHINGTON, D.C. (LOOTPRESS) – The U.S. military carried out air strikes early Sunday morning local time on three of Iran’s nuclear facilities, according to a statement from President Donald Trump.
The targeted sites were located in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan.
The strikes took place on the ninth night of ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran.
Officials and analysts have raised concerns that the attacks may trigger retaliation from Tehran, particularly against U.S. troops and military installations across the region.
An Israeli official confirmed that Israel was notified in advance by the Trump administration about the planned strikes.
“We have completed our very successful attack on the three Nuclear sites in Iran, including Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan. All planes are now outside of Iran air space,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social account.
“A full payload of BOMBS was dropped on the primary site, Fordow,” he continued, referring to the highly fortified underground uranium enrichment facility in Iran.
“There is not another military in the World that could have done this. NOW IS THE TIME FOR PEACE!”
In the lead-up to the strike, Trump and his team reportedly concluded that diplomatic efforts had failed and that military intervention was necessary to neutralize Iran’s nuclear capabilities.
On Thursday, Trump stated that he would make a decision “in the next two weeks” to give Iran a final opportunity to return to negotiations.
However, by the weekend, preparations for a military strike had already accelerated.
Multiple B-2 stealth bombers — aircraft capable of carrying 30,000-pound “bunker-buster” bombs — were observed flying west across the Pacific on Saturday, fueling speculation that the U.S. would soon target Iran’s Fordow site.
Trump had previously questioned Israel’s ability to destroy the deeply buried facility on its own, saying Friday, “They can break through a little section, but they can’t go down very deep.”
As of now, there has been no official response from the Iranian government regarding the strikes.
