SMITHERS, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The remainder of tonight’s Valley PK-8 football game has been canceled following a player injury.
According to sources at the game, the Greyhounds were playing host to Fayetteville PK-8 when a Greyhound player was injured during play.
Following the injury, a medevac was dispatched to the field and all fans including the broadcasting crew on-site at the game were asked to leave.
The condition of the injured player is unknown at this time.
New River Network, the broadcast organization on-site, released the following statement Thursday evening:
“NRN did have a crew at the Valley PK-8 MS football game tonight recording. The game was originally supposed to air at 9pm delayed. Unfortunately, a accident/injury during the game has resulted in a Valley player being seriously injured that required advanced medical attention with medivac support. Our crew and fans were asked to leave the stands.
Our prayers go out to the player, family, and community. We have decided not to air the game out of respect and privacy.”
This is a developing story.
