FAYETTEVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A Walmart employee is accused of pointing a handgun at a coworker and later grabbing her by the throat during a series of incidents in Fayetteville.
According to a criminal complaint, an officer received a report on August 27 regarding incidents that allegedly occurred during the early morning hours of August 23.
The woman told police she and her coworker, identified as Byron Shelton, were taking a lunch break inside Shelton’s vehicle at approximately 3 a.m. Shelton was reportedly shaking and emotional while discussing problems with his girlfriend.
Shelton allegedly pulled out a handgun and said he had been thinking about killing himself. After removing the magazine, he reportedly asked the woman whether she had ever had a gun pointed at her. When she answered no, Shelton allegedly pointed the weapon at her thigh and pressed it against her leg.
The woman told police that Shelton later followed her through several aisles as she stocked merchandise inside the store. She said his behavior made her uncomfortable enough that she asked another employee to contact management.
After their shift, the woman reportedly met with Shelton inside his vehicle near Five Below because she wanted to speak with him about his relationship problems. Shelton then allegedly reached over without warning, grabbed her by the throat and squeezed. He released her and began apologizing, according to the complaint.
The woman described the firearm as a small, black handgun with an extended magazine.
The reported incidents occurred within the Fayetteville city limits. The allegations contained in the criminal complaint have not been proven in court.
