MONTGOMERY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Montgomery man is facing a felony charge after police say he pointed a handgun at a neighbor during a dispute over apartment maintenance issues.
According to the Montgomery Police Department, officers were flagged down while patrolling along Third Avenue around 7:20 p.m. on February 3, 2026. The individual who stopped them reported a wanton endangerment incident that had just occurred at an apartment complex on Third Avenue.
The victim told officers he had been experiencing problems with running water in his apartment and knew that a neighbor, identified as Bobby Lee Summers, sometimes assisted the landlord with repairs. When the victim went to Summers’ door to ask whether the water issue had been fixed, Summers allegedly answered while holding a small handgun.
Police say the victim reported that Summers chambered a round, pointed the firearm at him, and threatened to shoot, stating he was “not playing around.”
Officers then made contact with Summers at his residence. Initially, Summers told police the weapon involved was a toy gun that he had thrown away. After further questioning, he admitted there was a real handgun inside the apartment. Officers recovered a Raven Arms .25 caliber compact handgun matching the victim’s description. A records check showed the firearm was not listed as stolen.
Based on the investigation, Bobby Lee Summers has been charged with one count of wanton endangerment involving a firearm. As with all criminal cases, he is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
