ANSTED, WV (LOOTPRESS) – West Virginia American Water crews are conducting emergency repairs following a water main break in Ansted.
West Virginia American Water reported that the main break began around 8 a.m. on Feb. 2, 2026. Repairs were underway as of 8:51 a.m., with service impacts expected throughout the day.
The utility estimates the repair work will take approximately 10 hours to complete, with service expected to be restored by about 6 p.m.
Customers in the affected area may experience low water pressure, discolored or cloudy water, or a complete loss of water service during the repair period. After service is restored, customers may continue to see cloudy or discolored water.
The company advises residents who notice discoloration to run cold water taps only, at the lowest level of the home, for three to five minutes until the water runs clear. No additional notifications are expected unless conditions change or further action is required.
Landlords whose water service is in their name are asked to notify tenants of the disruption. For safety reasons, residents are also advised not to approach repair crews while work is ongoing.
The utility apologized for the inconvenience and thanked customers for their patience as crews work to resolve the issue.
