CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The National Weather Service in Charleston says that numerous showers and thunderstorms are expected this afternoon and evening, with potentially severe weather continuing through the weekend.
A weak cold front will move through the region on Saturday, bringing widespread showers and thunderstorms.
Some of these storms could become strong to severe, with damaging winds and hail posing the main threats.
Additionally, very heavy downpours could lead to minor flooding in some areas.
Looking ahead, a stronger but moisture-starved cold front will pass through Sunday night.
While this front is expected to bring only modest relief from the heat, it will significantly lower humidity levels.
Residents can expect mostly dry weather for Labor Day and into the middle of next week.
Cool mornings will give way to warm afternoons, but the lower humidity will offer some comfort after the stormy weekend.
