FAYETTEVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – West Virginia American Water has announced a $166,000 infrastructure improvement project along Lakota Road in Fayetteville.
The project will replace approximately 860 feet of aging water pipe with a new 2-inch PVC main. Work will take place along Lakota Road from Beckwith Road to the end of Lakota Road.
“We are committed to continued investing in infrastructure upgrades across our system” said Scott Wyman, President of West Virginia American Water. “The Lakota Road project is a benefit to Fayetteville customers and will allow us to continue providing safe, clean and reliable water to the community.”
Construction is expected to be completed by the end of September, with final street restoration scheduled for fall 2026. Crews will work from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Traffic restrictions will be in place throughout the project.
The Fayetteville project is part of West Virginia American Water’s plan to invest more than $129 million in infrastructure improvements across West Virginia during 2026.
According to the company, economic impact studies indicate that up to 10 jobs are generated in local economies for every $1 million invested in water infrastructure.
West Virginia American Water said it has invested more than $805 million in infrastructure projects and capital improvements across the state over the past decade, including the installation of more than 168 miles of new water main.
Customers in the construction area could experience temporary service interruptions, discolored water or lower-than-normal water pressure while work is underway. The company said crews will work to minimize those disruptions.
Customers experiencing water-related emergencies, including leaks, main breaks or other service disruptions, can submit a service request through West Virginia American Water’s website.
