FAYETTEVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – West Virginia American Water has announced a $550,000 infrastructure upgrade project set to take place along E. Maple Avenue in Fayetteville.
According to the company, the project will involve replacing 1,020 feet of aging pipe with a new 6-inch PVC main.
Work will occur on E. Maple Avenue from Huse Street to Ankrom Street. Construction is scheduled to be completed by the end of June, with final street restoration expected in the summer of 2026.
“We are committed to continued investment in our infrastructure systems across the state” said Scott Wyman, President of West Virginia American Water. “This project will benefit the Fayetteville community and customers we serve and will allow us to continue providing safe, clean, reliable and affordable water to the community.”
The Fayetteville project is part of a broader effort by West Virginia American Water to invest more than $134 million in infrastructure improvements across the state in 2026.
The company says these investments support local economies, noting that economic impact studies show every $1 million invested in water infrastructure generates approximately 10 jobs.
Over the past decade, the company has invested more than $805 million in infrastructure and capital upgrades statewide, including the installation of more than 168 miles of new water main.
During construction, crews will work Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Traffic restrictions are expected throughout the duration of the project.
Customers may also experience temporary service interruptions, discolored water, or lower-than-normal water pressure while work is underway.
Officials say crews will work to minimize disruptions. Customers can report water-related emergencies, including leaks or main breaks, through the company’s website.
