WETZEL COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Wetzel County Schools has announced the temporary closure of Magnolia High School as the district responds to a flu outbreak at the school.
According to school officials, Magnolia High School will be closed for the next few days to allow for a deep cleaning of the building.
The decision follows a significant increase in illness-related absences. Over the past couple of days, approximately 130 students have been reported absent, along with multiple staff members.
School administrators said they hope to reopen the building on Friday but will reassess the situation on Thursday to determine whether it is safe to resume in-person classes.
During the closure, staff members will remain available to assist students as needed. Parents and guardians with questions or those in need of assistance are encouraged to contact the school directly at (304) 455-1990.
