CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – This June, West Virginia is putting its pride on full display as Secretary of State Kris Warner joins officials across the nation in the #SealReveal campaign—an initiative launched by the National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS) to uncover the stories and symbolism behind each state’s official seal.
Kicking off June 2nd, the month-long campaign offers West Virginians a fun and educational way to connect with the state’s rich history and values by diving deep into the meaning behind its iconic state seal.
“As the keeper of West Virginia’s state seal, I’m excited to share what this powerful emblem truly represents,” said Secretary Warner. “The #SealReveal campaign gives us a chance to celebrate our heritage, resilience, and pride while engaging citizens of all ages.”
Throughout June, the WV Secretary of State’s Office will roll out a four-part social media series:

Week 1 (June 2–6): What’s on the Seal – A breakdown of its imagery and symbolism

Week 2 (June 9–13): How it Began – The origin and adoption of the seal

Week 3 (June 16–20): Why it Matters – The seal’s role in representing WV identity

Week 4 (June 23–27): Fun Facts – Hidden gems and little-known seal trivia
West Virginians are encouraged to follow along on Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), and LinkedIn using hashtags #SealReveal and #WVStateSeal. Families, students, and travelers are also invited to snap photos of the state seal wherever they see it—on signs, buildings, or official documents—and share their sightings online.
Young citizens can join the fun by submitting their own State Seal coloring pages or creative artwork to communications@wvsos.com. Submissions will be featured on the WV Secretary of State’s social media pages throughout the campaign.
With participation from media outlets like the WV Press Association and WV Broadcasters Association, the #SealReveal campaign aims to inspire a new generation of civic pride and state knowledge.
The celebration wraps up on June 30, but the lessons—and love—for West Virginia’s state seal will carry on year-round.
