KEYSER, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Keyser man has been arrested following two separate criminal investigations involving allegations of sexual misconduct with a minor and financial fraud, according to the West Virginia State Police.
Troopers from the West Virginia State Police Keyser Detachment arrested Jeremy Shingler, 35, of Keyser, on Friday, March 13, 2026.
He is charged with soliciting a minor via computer, sexual abuse by a person in a position of trust, embezzlement and fraudulent scheme.
Authorities said the charges stem from two unrelated investigations conducted by state police.
The first investigation began after a concerned parent reported inappropriate electronic communications between Shingler and a juvenile.
Troopers said the investigation revealed sexually explicit and inappropriate communications with the minor, as well as allegations of inappropriate physical contact.
A separate investigation was launched after Shingler’s employer reported suspected financial irregularities involving company funds.
According to investigators, troopers determined that funds had been fraudulently obtained through checks written to a fictitious company and unauthorized credit card purchases.
Officials said the confirmed financial loss totals approximately $15,969.
Shingler was arraigned in Mineral County Magistrate Court and later released after posting a $25,000 bond.
The investigation remains ongoing, according to the West Virginia State Police.
