WOOD COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – On Monday morning, a single-vehicle crash claimed the life of a Ravenswood man on Interstate 77.
At approximately 6:19 a.m., Wood County deputies responded to the scene near the 158-mile marker on I-77 northbound, where they found a 2006 Nissan Altima resting against the cable barrier in the median.
The driver, identified as 43-year-old Justin Hinzman, was unresponsive when authorities arrived.
Fire Marshal Stewart and PSC Officer Farnsworth, who were first on the scene, immediately began performing CPR.
Despite their efforts, along with assistance from a passing motorist and responding deputies, Hinzman could not be revived.
Multiple agencies were involved in the response, including the Wood County Sheriff’s Office, Public Service Commission, Fire Marshal’s Office, Mineral Wells Volunteer Fire Department, Pond Creek Volunteer Fire Department, and Camden Clark Ambulance Service.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
