HUNTINGTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Huntington man has been sentenced to more than eight years in federal prison for distributing fentanyl and methamphetamine, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of West Virginia.
Curtis Lavall Capers, 36, was sentenced on Monday, June 16, 2025, to eight years and nine months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release.
The sentence stems from a drug transaction that took place on December 15, 2022.
According to court documents, Capers sold quantities of fentanyl and a methamphetamine mixture to a confidential informant at a residence on 7th Avenue in Huntington.
He admitted in court to both conducting and arranging the sale.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). United States District Judge Robert C. Chambers handed down the sentence. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Stephanie Taylor and Joseph F. Adams prosecuted the case.
Acting U.S. Attorney Lisa G. Johnston announced the sentencing and praised the efforts of law enforcement in combating drug crimes in the region.
