GLEN JEAN, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Members of the West Virginia National Guard came to the aid of a family whose vehicle broke down along Route 16 near Glen Jean while supporting the 2026 National Jamboree.
According to the West Virginia National Guard, Soldiers and Airmen responded after the family’s vehicle became disabled on the busy roadway. Service members secured the area, directed traffic and pushed the vehicle to a wider, safer location off the road while the family waited for additional assistance.
“I am so grateful to them,” said the driver. “They decided to push the car up a hill to a wide spot so we could be safe. I was so overwhelmed by the situation, but they were there when we needed them.”
The National Guard said the response reflects the training and readiness of its personnel to quickly recognize problems, adapt to changing situations and take action when needed.
The agency noted that, in addition to supporting local communities during events such as the National Jamboree, the West Virginia National Guard remains prepared for a wide range of missions, including homeland defense and overseas deployments.
