WEST VIRGINIA (LOOTPRESS) – As of the evening of June 19, 2025, more than 170 members of the West Virginia National Guard, including Soldiers, Airmen, and civilian employees, remain actively engaged in flood response operations across Ohio and Marion counties.
Roughly 130 of those personnel are on State Active Duty following the flash flooding that struck the northern region of the state starting late on June 14. Governor Patrick Morrisey ordered the mobilization, which saw National Guard units and equipment deployed to the affected areas by June 16.
Soldiers from the 115th Engineer Vertical Construction Company, 119th Engineer Company (Sapper), 601st Engineer Support Company, and 863rd Military Police Company are assisting with critical debris removal, traffic control, and support to local emergency and public works teams.
In addition to field operations, WVNG members are serving on Community Assessment Teams, acting as Liaison Officers, and providing visual documentation of the response through the Public Affairs Office.
To support ongoing efforts, the Guard has activated a Forward Operational Headquarters in Moundsville and bolstered staffing at the Rock Branch Warehouse in Poca.
The WVNG remains committed to aiding flood-impacted communities and ensuring a coordinated, statewide emergency response.
