MORGANTOWN, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The West Virginia Republican Party joined the Turning Point USA WVU Chapter on Monday, September 15, 2025, for a candlelight vigil honoring conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
According to organizers, nearly 1,000 students and guests attended the event, which focused on Kirk’s legacy of public discourse, open dialogue, and freedom.

West Virginia Republican Party Chairman Josh Holstein was present along with National Committeewoman Beth Bloch, Executive Director Ryan Jacinto, Monongalia County GOP Chair Dale Sparks, Marion County GOP Chair Scott Crouch, and several county executive committee members from across the region.
Speakers included Chairman Holstein, District Director Riley Keaton on behalf of Congressman Riley Moore, Governor Patrick Morrisey by video, Delegate Geno Chiarelli, Senator Chris Rose, several faith leaders, and Turning Point associates.
While addressing the crowd, Holstein said, “Let’s all try to have the passion and faith of Charlie while being bold and having the courage of Erika.”
In a statement, the West Virginia Republican Party said it reaffirms its commitment to strengthening partnerships with Turning Point USA, continuing Kirk’s mission of encouraging young Americans “to stand boldly for their convictions without fear.”
The party also asked West Virginians to keep Kirk’s family in their prayers.
